EsAC Collections
Collection contains symbolic structure and melody representation of Polish folk tunes acquired mainly by Oscar Kolberg (1814-1890), the forerunner of Polish ethnomusicologists, in an effort to preserve Polish traditional folk songs, instrumental music and dance. Songs in the collection are encoded in text-based EsAC (Essener Assoziativ Code) notation developed for monophonic music, especially for European folk songs. The notation can be converted into a number of other formats used in computer aided research on folk music.
